What Happens If You Mix Engine Oil Together?

We do not recommend you mix your car engine oil as different fluid contain different properties and chemicals which my mix together. This could reduce or make the properties irrelevant in the purchased oil, in turn losing all the benefits of more expensive engine oil.

The higher the viscosity grade, the more expensive it will be. Some of the benefits of using more expensive engine oils are that they can provide better protection and lubrication to your engine as well as increase fuel economy, decrease oil consumption, and reduce emissions.

There are many different types of engine oils, but the most expensive ones are called synthetic oils. They are more expensive because they have better performance than other oils and they last longer, but they can still be cheaper than other oils if you buy them in bulk or use a coupon for a discount.

The price of engine oil depends on various factors such as:

  • 1) The type of oil you are using.
  • 2) The quality of the oil.
  • 3) The quantity of the oil you are purchasing.
  • 4) The location where you are buying it from. (you'll find it cheaper here at Energized Customs ;)

Can You Use Different Brands Of Engine Oil?

Usually as long as the oil grade and specifications your using are compatible with your car manufacturer you should be fine, there are certain motor oil brands that are more expensive (or cheaper) than others but technically it won't make much of a difference. If you mix the different brands of engine oil together however this could cause some damage to your vehicle.

The key specifications for buying engine oil are the viscosity, the grade, and the type. Viscosity is a measure of how easily a fluid flows at different shear rates. The higher the viscosity, the more resistant to flow it is. Grade refers to the performance standard that engine oil meets. Engine oils are graded by their viscosity rating, which is determined by their American Petroleum Institute (API) service rating. Types of engine oil include mineral-based oils, synthetic oils, and biodiesel blends.

Can You Mix 5W30 with 5W40 oil?

This is a common question that many people have. The answer is yes, you can mix 5w30 engine oil with 5w40 engine oil as long as the weight of the 5w30 engine oil is greater than the weight of the 5w40 engine oil. However, if you have a more expensive vehicle with much better specs than your average car you'll be better off using the 5w40 engine oil as 5w30 might lead to unwanted damage.

It is the viscosity of the engine oil that determines its suitability for a particular engine. The higher the viscosity, the better it is for cold weather. For example, if your car takes 5w30 engine oil and you are driving in cold weather, it would be best to use 5w40 engine oil. 5W-30 engine oils provide better fuel economy as well as improved protection from heat and wear in high-performance engines. It is also less likely to break down at high temperatures than 5W-40 oils.

What's The Difference?

The most common types of engine oil include petroleum-based oils, synthetic oils, and bio-based oils.

Petroleum-based: Petroleum-based oils are made from crude oil that has been refined into various products like gasoline or heating oil. These types of engine oil are cheaper and can be found in almost any store, but they may not provide the same performance as other types of engine oil because they contain more impurities than other types of engines.

Synthetic: Synthetic engine oils are made from man-made chemicals that have been created to provide better performance than petroleum-based engines. These can be expensive but they last longer and provide better protection.

Bio-based engine oils are cleaner because they do not produce any soot or carbon emissions as petroleum-based oils do. They are healthier for the environment because they don’t emit any toxic substances as petroleum-based products do. And finally, bio-based engine oils are more sustainable because their production does not require any fossil fuels that would otherwise be used to extract them from the ground.
