Will This Wing Mirror or Mirror Components Fit My Car?

Posted on

Hey there! :D

This guide will (hopefully) help you buy with confidence and will cover everything you need to know about wing mirrors :)

Before we get in to the nitty gritty, here’s some important information to know;

We do not offer a painting service and cannot get colour coded mirror covers

In nearly all cases you can fit your original colour coded wing mirror cover to our wing mirrors. The only exclusions to this are the Toyota Yaris & the Suzuki Swift

Please check the compatibility table and item specifics as we will often list what models are excluded from being compatible

NONE of our wing mirrors come with fixings, please use original fixings or self tapping screws

ALL of our wing mirror units come complete with glass,  mirror cover and wiring

Right Hand Drive = UK specification, for driving on the left hand side of the road

Left Hand Drive = European specification, for driving on the right hand side of the road

Drivers Side = Offside = Right = O/S

Passengers Side = Nearside = Left = N/S

Primed Cover =Grey ready to paint mirror cover

Check the title of the listing – The year breaks are suuuuper important!

I.e – Vauxhall Corsa C 2000-2006 Drivers Side Manual Wing Mirror

The item will only fit if it’s within those years, but please be cautious if your year of vehicle is the first or last year (2000 or 2006 for example) as you may need an earlier or later model  mirror due to manufacturers changing specification on some models as they are called ‘change-over years’. If you’re unsure then please do send us an e-mail with your vehicle reg :) It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Please check the pictures for reference

 I know this sounds simple but it’s really important to check the images we provide you. We provide a number of pictures to check the shape of the glass and the colour of the mirror cover and when applicable, a picture of the wing mirror connector.

Right, let’s get to it shall we!

Is it Manual or Electric?

In a lot of cases, wing mirrors will have a variant over whether the wing mirror is manual or electric.

Manual refers to having to manually move the glass either by hand to adjust its positioning or by using a metal lever. If the listing says ‘manual’ or ‘cable adjust’, that’s referring to it being a manual wing mirror. Don’t be fooled van owners – If your wing mirror has an indicator unit don’t automatically assume it’s all electric! :)

Here’s an example of a manual wing mirror ;

Is it electric or power-folding?

So, if you haven’t got a manual wing mirror, you must either have an electric or power-folding wing mirror :)

You have an electric wing mirror if you can adjust your wing mirror glass via a button from within the car that you either twist or push down.

In most cases, electric wing mirrors also have heated mirror glass too! We will stipulate in the listing however if there’s a variant of heated and non heated.

Here’s an example below of an electric wing mirror :) If the listing shows wiring then you’re good to assume that it’s an electric wing mirror.

What is power-folding?

The power-folding function is that fancy pants function that means you can electronically fold in your wing mirrors in to the body of the car via a button within the car and/or your key fob. Electric only wing mirrors will allow you to adjust the glass but power-folding is when the entire wing mirror will fold itself in.

Our listing description will state if it’s power-folding or none power-folding, please make sure you check this  :)

Does my wing mirror have an indicator?

In some cases, some models will differ based on whether the wing mirror has a mirror indicator or not.

Please check this :) It’s super important! Our images will show it including or not including a mirror indicator and we’ll include information in item specifics as to whether it has an indicator unit or not.

Does my wing mirror have a puddle lamp?

A puddle lamp is a small light underneath the wing mirror that lights up when you open the car door. It’s to do what it says on the tin, light up puddles to keep your lovely feet wet free! :)

It’s not always easy to tell whether your wing mirror has this, especially if it’s stopped working!

The puddle light is NOT integrated in to your wing mirror indicator (if you have one), it’s a separate light in its own right. Here’s an example below of what one looks like;

Please make sure to check our listing description as we will stipulate if the wing mirror does or doesn’t come with a puddle lamp :)

Last key points

Some wing mirrors will have a variant based on whether it’s a 3 or 5 door, such as the Vauxhall Astra MK5, please make sure you check this as our title will stipulate whether it’s for the 3 or 5 door :)

Here’s an example;

We will include information in the listing if certain model types will NOT fit, for example the Renault Megane, here’s an example;

We hope that this guide has been useful! :)
