Product Description
Replace your cracked, broken or damaged Nissan X-Trail Air Bag Sensor.
Airbag Sensors (Squib Clock Spring)
Activation of the car's airbags systems are triggered by the Crash Sensors (Impact Sensor) when the car is involved in a collision. The crash sensor detects frontal impact and triggers a control unit and then the airbag is released to help protect the driver and or passengers.
The Clock spring is a device that contains a wound up wire inside which allows the airbag, horn and steering wheel buttons to stay connected as the steering wheel is moved when controlling the car left and right.
On newer cars there is a Pedestrian Airbag fitted which is designed to protect pedestrians from injury at collision speeds between 12mph and 30mph. Seven sensors around located at the front of the car to detect the type of impact.
Do not drive your car with a faulty or broken clock spring the car will be very difficult to steer making it very unsafe and will put you at danger as a driver.
A damaged spring will affect the horn, airbag, cruise control and steering wheel controls. An electrical noise will spike the wire.
Signs you have faulty clock spring include the SRS/Airbag light on the dash, no sound when you press the horn or noises coming from the steering column.
